Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions. Please ensure that you read our full terms and conditions before placing an order.

How far in advance should I order?
Every cake we create is made specifically for you and takes time to formulate a design. You can book up to 2 years in advance but we recommend a minimum order time of 3 – 6 months.
We will always try to accommodate last minute requests if we are able to. We will endeavour to do everything we can to accommodate your order however we only do a limited number of cakes per week. Usually 1 months notice for one tier cakes is enough. Bookings are taken dependant on availability. Please book your cake as far in advance as possible.
Do you offer consultations?
Yes we do offer a consultation for large cake and wedding cakes orders. We recommend that you book your consultation as early as possible so that we have time to devote to the design of your cake and any design changes that you may wish to make.
The cost for a 1 hour consultation is £45 per couple and includes a cake tasting, loose leaf tea or espresso based coffee, a design discussion, and a booking in our cake diary. £20 of the consultation price will be put towards the cost of your cake order.
We work with and recommend a small group of local suppliers – Champagne & Lace Bridal, The Little Sewing Shop, Dudley & Roo, …….
Should I bring anything to the consultation?
Please bring anything that you feel may provide us with inspiration to create the cake of your dreams. This may include an invitation, a dress, some fabric swatches, a photograph of your favourite piece of art work, a favourite colour sample, or texture.
It is important that you do some research before you attend the consultation so that we can make the most of the time available during the appointment.
You may also bring photos of cakes that may provide inspiration. Please note that we will not copy other cake artists work but only use them as inspiration.
Can I choose more than one flavour?
If you choose a design that has more than one tier then you can choose more than one flavour. You can choose a different flavour for each tier.
Do you provide cake stands?
When creating a cake that has more than one tier, we prefer to include the cost of a cake stand in the quotation that we provide as the cake stand forms part of the design of the cake we create for you. We highly recommend that you check the weight tolerance if you provide your own stand, as we are unable to accept responsibility should a cake become unbalanced due to a stand that is unsuitable.
Do you deliver or can I collect?
For large cakes and wedding cakes we would prefer to deliver and if required, set up your cake so that you can have peace of mind on the day of your event.
For smaller cakes, you may wish us to deliver for a fee or you can collect them from our cake studio at an agreed time.
A signature is required once the cake is delivered or collected to ensure that you are happy with the cake that has been provided.
How should I transport my cake?
We have found transporting the cake in it’s original box to be the safest way to travel. The floor of the passenger seat is the flattest part of the car and is the best place for transporting your cake, unlike a seat which is slanted, or a lap which may be unsteady. Given that buttercream cakes are sensitive to heat we recommend that you transport your cake with the air conditioning on high during warmer months.
When you reach your destination we recommend that the cake be kept in a cool place away from direct sunlight, or during warmer months in a fridge.
Please note that once a cake has left our cake studio we can’t accept responsibility for damage to the cake in relation to how it has been transported or stored. Please drive carefully.
(please see next question for storage recommendations)
How long will my cake keep for and how should I store it?
Our cakes are made from scratch using the best possible ingredients. We do not use preservatives therefore we recommend that you enjoy our cakes within 2 days of delivery.
Cakes should be stored in an airtight container either in a cool dry place or in the fridge. To enjoy our cake at its best you should bring it back to room temperature so we recommend removing the cake from the fridge at least 2 hours prior to serving.
How much will my cake cost?
All of our cakes are designed and created specifically for you so we do not have set prices. A quotation can only be provided once a design, flavour, size and delivery cost has been agreed upon.
How do I pay?
We accept payment by bank transfer or you can come to the cake studio and pay in person with cash or card. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking in our cake diary. The remaining balance is due 8 weeks prior to your delivery/collection. If you order within the 8 weeks prior to your event then full payment must be made to confirm your booking.
Once the order is placed, the deposit is non-transferable and non-refundable. The order is confirmed on receipt of the deposit and no guarantee can be given on availability until the deposit has been paid. In the event of cancellation: Cakes cancelled prior to the 14 day lockout date can be refunded up to 50% of the balance. The 50% retainer will not be refunded. Cakes cancelled after the lockout date will not be refunded.
What if I have dietary requirements?
You MUST inform us of any allergy or intolerance at the time of placing your order.
Because we make our cakes from scratch using the best ingredients available we are able to provide you with a full list of ingredients. Our cakes are produced in our kitchen where we handle all allergens which includes but is not restricted to nuts, peanuts, milk, eggs, soya, and wheat (gluten). Although we take great care to ensure that cross-contamination has not taken place, we cannot guarantee that any item is allergen free.
If you have an allergy, intolerance, or condition that requires your order to be completely allergen free we will not proceed with your order and highly recommend that you source a specialised baker to bake your required order. A specialised baker is one that bakes and creates their items in an allergy-controlled environment.
Will you decorate a cake that I provide?
In short, no. There are a number of reasons for this but first and foremost, we are unable to guarantee food safety and quality of a cake that someone else has made. Our reputation is built upon providing a cake experience from start to finish.
Do you provide or arrange fresh flowers?
We use real organic edible flowers in our designs provided by Maddocks Farm Organics.
If you have decided to use real flowers as part of your display on your cake, responsibility lies with both you and your florist, to ensure that cross contamination does not occur. We will not be held responsible for any illness brought on by the consumption of cake that has been in contact with any real flowers. Not all flowers are edible, and some are quite poisonous.
